Meridian, MS Alcorn State won two out of three games over A&M this weekend to remain the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Division of the SWAC

Game 1:  Alabama A&M defeats Alcorn, 7-5

The Bulldogs scored four runs in the sixth inning to defeat the Braves.  After ending three innings tied, Alcorn State edged themselves ahead of A&M, 5-2.  The Bulldogs slowly overcame their deficit and went on to defeat the Braves, 7-5.

Game 2:  Alcorn State win over Alabama A&M

The second game of the Alcorn/A&M series started out with the Braves scoring in the first inning.  A&M hype off of Game One’s win scored off of a sacrifice fly by Ellison.  In the fourth inning, Childress scored his second run of the game as Spencer singled.  The fifth inning proved to be the momentum changer as Rodney Warren hit a home run and picked up his 10th RBI of the season.  The Bulldogs battled back but it wasn’t enough to claim the victory as Alcorn won 7-5.

Game 3:  Braves pull out win over Bulldogs

With both teams splitting the day before, it was unclear who had the upper hand today.  Alabama A&M came out with hitting power as Alcorn State trailed for four innings.  In the fifth inning, the Braves got things started with David Reed scoring off of Joshua Brumfield’s single.  Bowens and Brumfield brought in two more runs for the Braves.  Jeff Jones’ homer earned him his 38th RBI.  As a scoring battle between the two teams heated up, the game went into an extra inning.  Alcorn State’s Terrell Johnson (9th Inning) and Jesse Buchanan (10th Inning) hit homers to give the Braves a nice lead over the Bulldogs.  A&M fought back but Childress flied out to right field to end their chances of an upset.
