Lady Braves Sign Chambers, Davies

LORMAN, Miss. - Alcorn State University head volleyball coach Chelsey Lucas-Nicholas announced the signing of Jasmine Chambers and Omone Davies to National Letters of Intent, which will allow them to enter the Lady Braves program as freshmen in the fall of 2017.

"I'm so excited to have these great all-around athletes join the program," said Lucas-Nicholas. "They are part of volleyball families and understand how to win. These two will help refine the Alcorn volleyball program. They both have personalities of hungry, poised and competitive volleyball players. I can't wait to introduce these two to the Brave nation."

Chambers is a 6-foot setter out of Lake Country Christian in Fort Worth, Texas. She earned all-district first team honors in volleyball during the 2014 and 2015 seasons. Chambers was also awarded with the district offensive player of the year and all-state second team accolades her junior year.

A two-sport athlete, she was part of a Lady Eagles squad that won the TAPP 3-A girls basketball state championship.

"I chose Alcorn to grow as an athlete, for the challenge of competition and to win and build a new legacy of championships," Chambers said. "I can't wait to join the Brave family as a student-athlete."

Davies will add depth and height to the Lady Braves as a 5-10 right-side hitter. The Richmond, Texas, native is a product of Foster High School. As a Lady Falcon, Davies is a four-year volleyball and track and field letterwinner.

She was named to all-district first and second teams on two separate occasions in volleyball. As a team member of the Houston Juniors 14 Elite, she helped lead the team to a second-place finish in the USA division of Junior Nationals.
