LORMAN - This weekend is filled with tons of excitement as six of Alcorn State sports prepare to compete across the southern region the United States.
Baseball
Head Coach Barrett Rey and the Braves baseball team host their SWAC home opener against Mississippi Valley in a three-game weekend series beginning Saturday with game one of the doubleheader beginning at 12 p.m. and game two of the double header beginning at 3 p.m.
Softball
The Alcorn State softball team travels to Longview, TX to play in the SWAC Softball Round-Up. The Lady Braves and the rest of the Eastern Division will play five games against the Western Division this weekend. First pitch for the Lady Braves is this afternoon at 4 p.m. as they take on Southern University in their first game of the weekend round-up.
Men's and Women's Tennis
The Alcorn State men's and women's tennis teams host Loyola University of New Orleans on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at the Alcorn State tennis courts.
Men's and Women's Track and Field
The men's and women's track and field are back in action this weekend participating in the Jim Mize Invitational hosted by Louisiana Tech on Satuday. First field event is schedule for 11:30 p.m. and the first running event is scheduled for 2 p.m.
Football
The Alcorn State football team began spring practice on Tuesday and will host it's first scrimmage on Saturday beginning at 9:30 a.m.
