BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Southwestern Athletic Conference released its 2013 SWAC Preseason Teams and predicted order of finish. Senior defensive back, Jamison Knox was selected to the Preseason All-SWAC Second Team Defense. The Braves were selected to finish 5th in the Eastern division.
The announcement was made during the 2013 SWAC Football Media Day.
Knox, a native of Memphis, Tenn., started in all 11 games for the Braves last season and recorded 37 tackles, 2 interceptions, 7 pass break-ups, 9 pass deflections, 2 interceptions, and forced one fumble. He ranked 5th in the conference in passes defended.
"We are excited about the 2013 football season and can't wait to get started in August," stated Head Football Coach Jay Hopson. Congratulations to Jamison for making the preseason teams. He's a great player and hard worker who deserves the honors.
For the predicted order of finish in both divisions, Arkansas-Pine Bluff totaled 105 points, including 14 first-place votes, to become the favorite out of the West Division. Southern followed with 88 points, Prairie View A&M gathered 83 points, with Grambling State (51) and Texas Southern (38) closing the division's preseason ranking.
In the East Division, Alabama State claimed 108 points with 15 first-place votes. Jackson State received 102 points followed by Alabama A&M (60), Mississippi Valley State (51) and Alcorn State (40).
