Decatur, Ala.-Senior Pitcher, Deanna Rancillio was selected to the 2013 All-SWAC Softball 2
nd Team yesterday by the Southwestern Athletic Conference.
Rancillio capped off a stellar season with a 7-12 record and an ERA of 6.06. She also struck out 49 batters and only walked 33 during the 2013 season.
Rancillio was one of few pitchers who went on a five-game winning streak late in the season which earned her SWAC Pitcher of the Week Honors. She pitched the Lady Braves into the 2013 SWAC Softball Tournament by sweeping Alabama A&M in Huntsville, Ala.
“Deanna has worked hard all season and when she finally understood my vision for the team she jumped on board and demanded victory from her team, Head Coach Jessica Harris quoted!” She is a leader in the circle and I am very proud of her.
Rancillio is expected to start for the Lady Braves in the opening round of the SWAC Tournament this afternoon as they face No.1-ranked Texas Southern. First pitch is set to begin at 2:00 p.m.
