Q & A with Offensive Line Coach, Marshall Hayes

Alcorn State, MS—After practicing in scorching temperatures, the Braves welcomed two-a-day practices with some rain and cooler temperatures. Today's focus is the Braves Offensive Line and Coach Marshall Hayes.
The offensive line provides a groove and protection for the quarterback.    Senior Isaac Williams serves as the center, in which that position is the signal caller and directs the offensive line.

Q: How have veteran leaders such as Isaac Williams and Avis Shelton been assisting with the transition of the newcomers?
A:  Isaac Williams is more vocal and leads by example. He challenges the players to do better and has grown to accept leadership. Avis is more reserved and is growing into a leadership role.

Q: What does the addition of Keyun Swinney mean to the offensive line?
A: He will be able to help to the offensive line tremendously. He is learning the offensive scheme and is very strong physically. Swinney can also play two positions so that is a plus for the offensive line.

Q: At this point, what are some major changes you have noticed in the line since the beginning of fall camp?
A: The line is developing chemistry and playing as a unit.

Q: What is a key piece of advice that you tell your players?
A: Play together and believe in one another. The key to success is to believe and have faith. Also, I tell the line to plan and neglect. Our plan is to win a SWAC Championship this year. So we must neglect everything that comes between us and our goal.
